In this role, you will manage a team of Preconstruction professionals to develop internal estimates, engage subcontractors, analyze bids, and compile estimates. You will lead the development of and adherence to precon standards and processes, as well as manage personnel development. Job Responsibilities
Pre-Estimate:
Participate in design review meetings, monitor scope, cost, and constructability during design development, and lead or participate in Estimate Plan meetings. Estimate Development:
Lead a team of estimators, ensure tools and resources are available, engage with proposal and design teams, identify risks, conduct reviews, and assess value engineering options. Subcontractor Management:
Build relationships, develop strategies, verify qualifications, organize bid meetings, and develop process flows and documents. Post Estimate:
Ensure budget compliance, participate in scope reviews, assist in subcontractor selection, and compile lessons learned. Database Maintenance:
Maintain databases for preferred subcontractors, bid forms, and cost history. Training:
Train staff, develop training programs, and participate in performance reviews. Travel:
Attend bid walks, conferences, and visit projects, with 10-25% travel expected. Miscellaneous:
Manage resources, coordinate with other groups, and perform other duties as assigned. Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, with 10+ years of experience or 15+ years in construction. Experience with large-scale water and wastewater projects. Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications
Estimating, scheduling, budget control, client relationships, subcontractor/vendor relationships, computer skills. Knowledge of estimating software (e.g., Beck Destini, Accubid, Bluebeam, InSite). Excellent communication, organizational, leadership skills, and ability to train others. Additional Information
