The Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento is seeking motivated student interns to support and learn from the Court's Information Technology team. Interns will assist with day-to-day IT operations, including computer hardware setup, user support, inventory tracking, and troubleshooting, while also gaining hands-on experience with large-scale technology deployment projects. This role provides exposure to courtroom and administrative IT environments, offering valuable insight into professional practices such as cable management, quality assurance testing, and secure equipment handling. Interns will work closely with Court IT staff to develop practical technical skills, strengthen organizational abilities, and gain real-world experience in supporting mission-critical government operations.

Employment

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week's notice.

UEI is not a multi-state employer. UEI only employs candidates who live and work in the state of California. If selected for the position you must reside in California and all work must be performed in the state of California throughout the course of employment.

Prerequisites

Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Work Schedule

Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 7 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.

Additional Work Schedule

Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).

Compensation

$16.50 - $20.22 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

Basic troubleshooting skills for Windows 10/11 operating systems. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with end-users at all levels. Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable with a strong work ethic. Must be able to communicate effectively through email, telephone, IM (Teams), and in person. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Must be enrolled in at least six semester units (undergraduate) or four semester units (graduate) at a UEI-affiliated college/university. Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be able to pass a background check. Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Prior experience providing technical support or customer service. Knowledge of Personal Computer (PC) hardware, imaging, or system deployment tools. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot common IT issues. Upper-division coursework in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field. Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority (documentation required). Duties and Responsibilities

In a learning capacity, the Student Assistant will support the Information Technology Division of the Sacramento Superior Court in a variety of technical and customer service tasks, including: Assisting with the staging, imaging, deployment, and maintenance of desktops (both physical and virtual) and laptops, including installing software via Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), conducting quality assurance checks, and preparing devices for use across multiple court locations. Supporting IT staff with hardware upgrades, PC builds, and rollouts, including the setup, configuration, and replacement of equipment as needed. Providing first-level technical support to end-users both in person and remotely, including phone and email assistance, resolving routine issues, and escalating or triaging requests as appropriate. Responding to assigned Incident Requests to assist with timely troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues. Performing tasks related to inventory audits of IT assets such as desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, docking stations, and accessories including wiping, staging, validating, and organizing equipment. Setting up and testing Audio/Video equipment for meetings, presentations, and court-related proceedings. Communicating regularly with project leads, team members, and supervisors, including providing daily updates when requested.

Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment across multiple Sacramento Court locations within Sacramento County.
