This role assists in ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and effective daily operations. The Operational Compliance Officer serves as a key liaison among departments and may assume full administrative responsibilities at the direction of, or in the absence of, the administrator. Duties & responsibilities Assist the administrator in overseeing daily operations of the facility, ensuring resident care and services are delivered with quality, compassion, and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Support departmental directors and interdisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with center and organizational goals. Monitor regulatory compliance, help prepare for surveys, and assist in responding to deficiencies and plans of correction. Responsible for overseeing compliance and risk management activities to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and promote resident safety. Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives. Serve as acting administrator in their absence, as designated. Participate in committee meetings and emergency preparedness planning. Interacts with all facility personnel and departments as necessary or directed by administrator. Consult with department directors concerning the operation of their departments to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services. Assure that resident concerns and grievances are followed up appropriately and in compliance with regulations. Assist the NHA with any and all priorities required to maintain the highest level of resident and care adherence to state and federal regulations. Reviews all facility incidents/events and participates in any internal investigations, as needed, to assure that all are accurate and thorough, root cause analysis was completed, and that appropriate interventions were implemented. Assist to develop and implement corrective action plan when deficiencies are identified on state and federal surveys. Review 24-hour nursing report to ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in resident condition, transfers, discharges, unexplained injuries, falls, behavior episodes, medication errors, etc. Participate in daily/weekly/monthly management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, and/or resident concerns. Proficient in basic requirements of various departments to fulfill essential duties in the event of vacancy or unexpected leave of absence of the director. Qualifications Must be a registered nurse (RN) with an active license in good standing Bachelor's degree is preferred. Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility with prior supervisory or administrative experience strongly required.
