Tasting Room Manager | Obelisco Estate Winery Woodinville, WA Obelisco Estate Winery is seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on Tasting Room Manager to lead our hospitality program and tasting room operations. This role blends strategic vision with daily executionrequiring a leader who is equally passionate about people, wine, and creating authentic guest experiences. The ideal candidate brings warmth, creativity, and professionalism to every interaction, while driving direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales, wine club growth, and brand loyalty. This position requires a leader who can balance operational excellence with active floor presence, fostering a positive and high-performing team culture while ensuring that every guest leaves with a lasting impression of Obelisco. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Management Recruit, hire, train, and supervise tasting room associates and wine educators. Lead by example, setting the standard for hospitality, professionalism, and salesmanship. Deliver superior customer service in a busy, fast-paced atmosphere. Create and manage staff schedules to ensure consistent coverage. Conduct ongoing training in wine knowledge, sales techniques, and service standards. Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions when needed. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and motivated team culture.
Guest Experience & Sales
Oversee day-to-day tasting room operations, ensuring a welcoming and brand-consistent environment. Actively engage with guests to deliver elevated, educational, and memorable tasting experiences. Manage VIP visits, private groups, and special requests with personalized attention. Drive DTC sales through tastings, wine club sign-ups, and merchandise. Collaborate with the Wine Club Coordinator and General Manager to develop strategies for wine club growth and member retention. Track sales performance, conversion rates, and guest feedback, reporting to ownership/management. Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
Operations & Administration
Manage POS systems, cash handling, and daily sales reconciliation. Oversee wine, merchandise, and supply inventories in coordination with production and marketing. Calculate bi-weekly hours and tips. Ensure pricing, menus, and promotional materials are current and accurate. Book, support and help execute winery events, music nights, and classes both on-site and off-site.
Marketing & Collaboration
Partner with General Manager on campaigns, promotions, and seasonal offerings. Support digital efforts including reservations, guest reviews, and social media presence. Contribute ideas to enhance customer engagement and loyalty programs.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with all Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board regulations. Maintain health and safety standards for staff and guests. Ensure all staff maintain current MAST 12 permits and Food Handlers cards.
Qualifications
5+ years of leadership experience in winery, or high-end hospitality. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; able to motivate and inspire a team. A positive attitude. Proven track record in driving sales and achieving revenue goals. Deep knowledge of wine, preferably with passion for Washington State wines. Excellent communication, storytelling, and guest engagement skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to a dynamic environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with POS/reservation systems. Experience with OrderPort and Cellarpass preferred. Valid Class 12 MAST Permit and Food Handlers Permit (or ability to obtain). Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be 21+ and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
