Position Summary: Merrimack Health, a community-focused, patient-centered hospital, is seeking a highly motivated and relationship-driven Physician Recruiter to lead efforts in identifying, attracting, and onboarding top-tier physician and advanced practice provider talent. This role is instrumental in supporting the hospital’s strategic growth, ensuring high-quality patient care, and maintaining a strong medical staff presence in our local and regional communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Candidate Development
Collaborate with department leaders and medical staff to identify provider staffing needs across specialties.
Develop and implement physician recruitment strategies aligned with the hospital’s clinical and operational needs.
Source qualified physician and advanced practice provider candidates through a variety of channels including:
Job boards and professional associations (e.g., NEJM, JAMA, PracticeLink, Doximity, etc.)
Medical schools, residency and fellowship programs
Direct outreach, networking, referrals, and social media
Attendance at national and regional job fairs and medical conferences
Build and maintain a robust candidate pipeline.
Candidate Engagement & Screening
Serve as the primary point of contact for physician candidates from first contact through hire.
Conduct initial candidate screening interviews to assess qualifications, interest, and cultural fit.
Coordinate with department leaders and medical staff to schedule interviews, both virtual and on-site.
Manage all aspects of the recruitment process, including screening, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and coordinating site visits.
Offer Management & Negotiation
Work with legal, HR, and administration to prepare competitive employment offers and contracts.
Present offers to candidates, address questions, and support negotiation processes as appropriate.
Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, credentialing, and licensing.
Qualifications: Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of recruiting experience, preferably in healthcare or physician recruitment.
Experience in a hospital or medical group setting highly desirable.
Proven ability to manage multiple searches and meet recruitment goals.
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external candidates.
Knowledge of healthcare workforce trends, provider compensation models, and credentialing/licensing processes
