The Department of Natural Sciences at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia is seeking a Lab Coordinator/Lab Technician. We are recruiting a lab coordinator/lab technician who will work directly with the assigned department professor, and assist in planning research, conducting experimental analyses, and report/manuscript preparation as part of the DOE-funded research project. The position is available for a one-year appointment but for up to two years, contingent upon performance and continued availability of funding. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Responsibilities

Conduct experiments related to surveying biodegradation potential of 1,4-dioxane in soil and groundwater using culture-dependent and -independent approaches. Prepare reports and assist publishing research data in peer-reviewed journals. Assist the PI in activities that lead to research. Manage the laboratory and maintain instruments. Manage the day-to-day activity of undergraduate students in the laboratory. Conduct sampling bi-annually. Perform other duties assigned for the laboratory. Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Ecology, Soil Science or closely related discipline. Prior experience in a biological laboratory. Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Microbiology, Ecology, Soil Science or closely related discipline. Proposed Salary
