Job Description

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for automation processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

Design and develop control systems for new and existing equipment.

Program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces).

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control systems and equipment.

Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate control systems.

Conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure performance and reliability.

Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including schematics, diagrams, and manuals.

Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production teams.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI programming.

Experience with controls engineering, materials handling, VFD, Ethernet, and sortation.

Familiarity with Rockwell and Rslogix.

Ability to read, interpret, and explain electrical drawings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Knowledge of PLC programs and fundamentals.

Experience with AutoCAD.

Internship experience in a related field.

Work Environment

The Controls Engineer will work remotely from a home office and will travel to various cities in the US, Mexico, and Canada. The ideal candidate should be located in the Midwest region on Eastern Time Zone. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4/5 PM, with variations when traveling. Flexibility is required as travel availability is 50-70%. The company offers a per diem of $60 per day when traveling, with other expenses reimbursed. The role involves being part of a small, dynamic, and early-stage startup in the automation field, offering many opportunities for growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, Kentucky.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
