Marketing Technology Analyst

The Marketing Technology Analyst assists in configuration and execution of digital communications and engagement programs across Advancement. With direction and guidance from Director of Digital Operation, this position collaborates with marketing, data, and technology teams to ensure seamless and effective delivery of targeted fundraising campaigns and other outreach using platforms such as Marketo and Salesforce. The Marketing Technology Specialist is responsible for applying established processes and application templates to build email segmentation, campaign workflows, and performance reports. This role also supports implementing new technologies and enhancing integrations to streamline operations and improve digital infrastructure. This role is a liaison between the IT group and business to support the development and implementation of new systems and enhancements of existing systems. With moderate/high guidance, evaluates new IT developments and evolving business requirements, and uses elementary knowledge of University systems to recommend appropriate systems. Responsibilities include: Working closely with multiple teams within Advancement to configure technical systems to optimally deliver highly effective event, solicitation, and engagement communication programs. Collaborating with various internal stakeholders to build, test, and execute email segmentation, reporting, and campaigns within communication systems to align with business requirements. Building Salesforce campaigns to guide campaign performance. Working with data from various sources and tools to optimize content and messaging in programs by behaviors and personas. Assisting in updating marketing campaign workflows as changes to business requirements dictate. Contributing to process improvement initiatives by identifying areas where automation and operational efficiencies can enhance productivity and campaign effectiveness. Collaborating with software development teams and cross-functional stakeholders in building new and enhancing existing systems by testing, debugging, and implementing software solutions. Providing ongoing administration and support for existing communications systems to ensure data integrity and system performance. Assisting in maintaining documentation for all processes related to Digital Operations. Supporting the marketing team in analyzing and reporting marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, etc.) to help shape future marketing strategies. Providing Tier 2 support for alumni technical support response to help constituents gain access to and use Advancement Communications sites and University services. Seeking opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance including attending webinars, seminars, building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions. Preparing functional, system, and program specifications. Assisting in revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary, under the direction of more experienced colleagues. Supporting the IT development group in building new systems and enhance existing systems. Assisting in coding, testing, debugging, and implementing software solutions. Preparing documentation on system enhancements and/or alternatives. Evaluating new IT developments, keeping up with evolving business requirements, and using knowledge of University systems to recommend appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems. Performing other related work as needed. Minimum qualifications include a college or university degree in a related field and less than 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Preferred qualifications include a bachelors or advanced degree, professional experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar field, and background with data analysis and communicating complex topics to non-technical people. Preferred competencies include outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, the ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact, acting with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, working collegially and collaboratively in a team setting, being self-motivated and taking initiative, and prioritizing multiple projects and independently following through with detail. This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in-office presence. Standard office environment. Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
