Job Title: Polymer Chemist Job Description
The position involves testing new architectural paint materials within a laboratory setting. The role requires mixing chemicals and additives to create architectural paint while ensuring quality standards and considering environmental impact. The candidate will also mix new paint formulations by selecting appropriate resins, pigments, additives, and solvents to achieve desired properties like adhesion, durability, color, and gloss.
Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory testing such as viscosity, draw downs on different substrates, stain resistance, and application testing.
Provide technical support for key innovation projects and customer services.
Ensure lab safety and follow general safety procedures.
Conduct hands-on work in the lab to provide reliable results.
Work collaboratively with scientists and other technicians to plan and execute technical lab work.
Essential Skills
Expertise in chemistry, paint, coating, polymer, and polymer chemistry.
Proficiency in viscosity testing, application testing, draw down, and stain resistance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Diploma with 5+ years of hands-on paint/coating lab experience.
Associate's degree with 2+ years of hands-on paint/coating lab experience.
Bachelor's degree with some hands-on paint/coating lab experience (co-op or industrial internship preferred).
Experience working with and making paint or coatings, with a preference for architectural paint.
Work Environment
The work will be conducted in an Applications Lab within the highly specialized Architectural Paint division. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $38.46/hr.
