Overview

Join our dynamic team as a temporary Human Resources Analyst, where you will collaborate with a group of HR professionals dedicated to supporting the Department of Social Services (DSS). This role focuses on a range of tasks and projects that contribute to a positive work environment and effective human resources operations. Responsibilities Manage all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, serving as the primary contact in this area. Coordinate with eight divisions to review requests, collect data, redact sensitive information, and ensure compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and state codes. Partner with the County Attorneys Office and FOIA Officers as needed. Shape organizational culture through employee engagement initiatives. Design and implement internal strategies and communications to cultivate a vibrant, positive work environment, and collaborate with other County agencies to promote a culture of positivity and excellence. Support the DSS Human Resources team by overseeing and organizing communications from various shared inboxes, responding to general inquiries, and facilitating efficient collaboration. Take on special projects and tasks as directed by the Human Resources manager to drive meaningful change.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. and four (4) years of related Human Resources administration and employee engagement programs or initiatives experience.

Preferences

Bachelor's degree or higher in human resource management, business, public administration, or a related field. Two (2) or more years of experience responding to and handling Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Four (4) or more years of experience in Human Resources Administration. Five (5) or more years of creating, developing, and executing employee engagement programs or initiatives. Strong listening, creative thinking, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to build relationships and influence diverse individuals. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicating effectively with various levels of staff. Advocate for innovation, change, and diversity, focused on improving performance and outcomes. Proven organizational skills; ability to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment. Strong facilitation and presentation skills. Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven team player and customer service oriented. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Self-motivated, analytical, and capable of making sound judgments. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Special Requirements

All DSS staff are required to provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster. Candidates must pass criminal history, child protective services, and DMV background checks. Resource/foster parents for youth in the Prince William foster-care program may not be employed by the Prince William Department of Social Services. Resource/foster parents for youth from other localities are welcome to apply. Staff in this position must possess a valid drivers license and be eligible to drive for work. Staff in this position may periodically be eligible to telework but will be required to report to the office intermittently. Telework eligibility is subject to change as business needs warrant; there is no guarantee of telework.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. This is a telework-eligible role that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change. Salary
