Strategic Association Management (SAM) partners with professional and trade associations to strengthen their impact through strategic leadership and operational support. We are seeking a Communications Manager to join our team and help develop, manage, and deliver effective and brand-affirming communications that make a difference for our partner associations. The Communications Manager will support multiple associations by developing and executing communications strategies, marketing campaigns, and brand-aligned content across digital and print channels. Guided by Account Leads, you will collaborate closely with leaders and volunteers to ensure messaging is clear, effective, and engagingfrom websites and newsletters to social media and event promotion. The ideal candidate is a

who thrives in a fast-paced, flexible environment. You'll balance big-picture planning with detail-oriented execution, managing multiple projects and adapting quickly to shifting priorities. Attention to detail, strong writing and editing abilities, and excellent time management skills are essential. Each day will bring a variety of tasks, but the throughline is helping associations communicate their value, grow their reach, and advance their missions. While the role offers opportunities to take initiative, it operates within a clear framework of responsibilities set by leadership. Because you'll support multiple associations, you will need to adapt to different leadership styles and client needs with flexibility and professionalism. JOB TITLE:

SAM is headquartered in Austin, TX; depending on the role and responsibilities a hybrid set-up (Austin area) or fully remote (Outside of Austin; Texas residents only) may be available Primary Responsibilities of the Position

Responsibilities may include the following for multiple associations: Collaborate with association leaders and staff officers to shape and implement communications strategies that reflect each partner's unique voice and brand Develop and execute comprehensive, strategic online and offline communications and marketing campaigns that advance each partner's goals Create and adapt written content for communications projects (emails, websites, social media, press releases, event programs, and other collateral) that aligns with partner messaging and tone Support internal teams, managing project timelines and client communication calendars, ensuring timely project completion and communicating clear expectations for project execution Update and maintain association partners' websites, including developing content and overseeing user experience and interface design Manage email marketing and communications, including list management, design, messaging, and execution Develop, manage, and execute social media strategies Design collateral materials (invitations, brochures, flyers, signage, graphics, animated graphics, slides, videos, etc.) to support communications efforts Track, measure, and report key performance indicators to determine marketing/communications effectiveness Manage production for communications projects, including coordinating with outside vendors (e.g., graphic designers, printers, signage companies, photographers, videographers, etc.) Manage elements of technology infrastructure as it relates to partner association communications needs (e.g., email marketing platforms, website CMS, CRM/AMS, mobile apps, social scheduling tools) Monitor press mentions and serve as media relations coordinator for multiple associations, identifying media opportunities and connecting press with designated spokesperson (chief volunteer or chief staff officer)

Experience & Skills Required and Preferred

Bachelor's degree/equivalent experience in communications, journalism, or related field Excellent editing and writing skills; ability to write copy for a variety of forums; ability to adapt to various client voices over personal voice; extensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation; ability to implement a variety of editing styles, depending on client style guide Thorough knowledge of email, social media, and content management systems, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube/Vimeo, Buffer/Hootsuite, website design/management platforms, email design/management platforms Proficiency with Canva, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience (marketing, comms, editing web, and/or print design) Expertise in strategic and innovative marketing approaches, including PPC, SEO, content marketing, and automation tools Proven ability to develop and project manage communications calendars/plans Proficiency in graphic design enhancing visual communication strategies Proven experience in publication production, including layout, editing, and/or project management for magazines or similar formats Expertise in developing and implementing effective social media strategies Familiarity with web-based CRM or AMS (Software/Management System) and mobile event applications Experience with professional/trade associations/nonprofits or agency-style work
