Overview

University Innovation Alliance (UIA) Fellow at the University of South Carolina. This is a two-year, full-time leadership development fellowship where youll complete a flagship project from problem diagnosis through implementation, contributing to USCs mission of expanding student success. Location: Columbia, South Carolina. This is a 37.5 hours per week, full-time, staff time-limited (STL) position with a 12-month basis. Start date requested: 10/16/2025. Lead Student Success Initiatives: design and implement student success projects addressing barriers faced by first-generation, low-income, and historically underrepresented students. Apply process mapping, design thinking, and evidence-based practices to move projects from problem diagnosis through planning, execution, and evaluation. Conduct Research and Program Analysis: research institutional policies and evaluate existing student success programs to identify opportunities for innovation and scaling using data analysis, benchmarking, stakeholder interviews, and literature reviews. Develop and Communicate Strategic Recommendations: prepare proposals, memos, and presentations that translate findings into actionable recommendations for university leaders and UIA collaborators. Facilitate Collaboration Across Campus and the UIA Network: build partnerships with faculty, staff, and administrators across academic affairs and student affairs; contribute to UIA-wide projects and national initiatives. Engage with Senior Leadership and Advance Professional Growth: participate in high-level meetings with senior leaders, contribute updates, and observe leadership approaches to build transferable skills. Qualifications

Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience

Requires a bachelors degree in a job-related field and 4 or more years of job-related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree and 38 years of relevant work experience with a record of success in academic and professional settings. Strong interpersonal presence with the ability to engage senior leaders professionally and respectfully. Exceptional project management skills with adaptability and the ability to drive results both independently and in teams. Creative problem-solver who can think strategically, iterate quickly, and connect diverse people, projects, and goals. Excellent communication skills with energy and motivation to inspire others and advance student success. Deep commitment to transforming public higher education to better serve low-income, first-generation, and historically underrepresented students. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of higher education systems, student success initiatives, equity-focused practices, policy research, program evaluation, process mapping, and design thinking. Strong written and verbal communication, project management, data analysis, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Ability to engage senior leaders with professionalism, exercise strategic thinking, adapt to changing circumstances, and manage projects from conception through implementation.
