What is the purpose of this role? Turn DOOR’s data into a strategic asset that powers our Building Intelligence platform and daily decision‑making. This role ensures data is reliable, well‑governed, and accessible, so teams can ship better products, automate operations, and unlock AI/ML insights that improve resident experience and property performance. What is the role? A Director who sets the vision and operating model for data at DOOR. You will lead a growing team of engineers and analysts, establish a trusted metrics layer, and build the modern data platform and practices that enable self‑service analytics and ML‑ready datasets. Working across Product, Operations, Finance, and Sales, you’ll prioritize the highest‑impact use cases, define quality and freshness standards, and create scalable systems that help the business move faster with confidence. What will you do?
Data & Analytics Strategy: Define and execute a comprehensive data roadmap aligned with business priorities, growth initiatives, and AI/ML objectives. Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high‑performing team of data engineers and analysts. Foster a culture of trust, curiosity, collaboration, and accountability. Cross‑Functional Partnership: Work with Product, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Executive teams to establish trusted metrics, enable self‑service analytics, and improve data fluency. Data Governance: Champion data governance and quality initiatives. Lead cross‑functional efforts to define data ownership, improve upstream data reliability, and implement best practices for documentation, validation, and compliance. ML‑Ready Data: Collaborate with the AI/ML team to identify, prepare, and deliver high‑quality datasets to support model development, training, and deployment, including feature engineering and experimentation frameworks. Metrics & Measurement: Advocate for a metric‑driven culture. Standardize and socialize KPIs across departments to align on business goals and performance tracking. Tooling & Architecture: Scale the modern data stack (e.g., dbt, Sigma, Snowflake, Kafka) to meet growing needs and evolving data complexity. Data Enablement: Empower stakeholders through scalable reporting solutions, training, and support to drive self‑service analytics adoption. Continuous Improvement: Identify and lead initiatives to improve data workflows, reduce technical debt, and increase efficiency and reliability in the analytics pipeline.
What do you bring to DOOR?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience. 8+ years of experience in data, analytics, or data engineering, with 3+ years in leadership roles. Proven experience leading teams and delivering cross‑functional data initiatives in high‑growth or technology environments. Strong SQL and data modeling skills, with experience in modern data transformation tools such as dbt or SQLMesh. Deep understanding of data governance, including data quality, documentation, access controls, and lifecycle management. Experience working with AI/ML teams to deliver training datasets and support experimentation and productionization. Proficiency with BI tools such as Sigma, Tableau, or Power BI; Python is a plus. Excellent communication and stakeholder management, with a track record of building trust across functions. Strong project management and prioritization abilities in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data tooling. Experience contributing to data governance councils or cross‑functional data initiatives. Interest in building a diverse, inclusive, and psychologically safe team culture.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this role is $200,000 – $225,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
