Job Summary: The Benefits Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization's employee benefits programs. This includes health, wellness, retirement, leave, and other ancillary programs. The role ensures that all benefits offerings are cost-effective, competitive, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. The Benefits Manager works closely with the CHRO to develop benefits strategies that support organizational goals, employee satisfaction, and overall workforce well-being.
Supervises: Benefits Specialist
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees the day-to-day activities and workflows of staff assigned to benefits administration. Provides coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure high levels of service delivery. Duties/ Responsibilities:
Develops and administers employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement, wellness, and leave programs. Collaborates with the CHRO to evaluate, design, and recommend benefits strategies aligned with organizational priorities. Manages vendor relationships and negotiates contracts with benefits providers, brokers, and consultants. Ensures compliance with all applicable benefits-related laws and regulations (ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.). Oversees open enrollment and benefits communication initiatives; provides training and resources to employees and managers. Reviews, analyzes, and reports on benefit plan performance, utilization, and cost trends; recommends adjustments as needed. Responds to complex benefits-related inquiries and resolves escalated issues. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in employee benefits. Partners with HRIS and payroll to ensure accurate administration of benefits programs. Performs other duties as assigned by the CHRO. Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration or management required. CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP, or other related certification preferred. Required Skills/Abilities
Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, laws, and compliance requirements. Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High level of organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and HRIS systems. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems. Benefits:
