Location: Anaheim, CA (referrals notice for related roles in the area). Key Responsibilities Oversee accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, job cost accounting, payroll, and some cash management (working with our Controller and CFO). Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and tax returns in accordance with GAAP. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Construction-Specific Accounting Ensure accurate job cost tracking, cost-to-complete forecasts, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting. Partner with project managers and estimators to monitor profitability and financial performance of jobs. Payroll & Compliance Oversee union payroll processing, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Oversee and processing wage garnishments, 401K contributions, and FSA contributions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as Department of Labor and other governing agencies. Maintain accurate records for audits, including labor compliance and certified payroll audits. Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies. Qualifications Minimum 5-10 years of progressive construction accounting experience. Experience in construction industry accounting required. Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition. Hands-on experience with union payroll and certified payroll reporting. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments. Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution.
