Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee some accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, job cost accounting, payroll, and some cash management (working with our Controller and CFO).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and tax returns in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Construction-Specific Accounting
  • Ensure accurate job cost tracking, cost-to-complete forecasts, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
  • Partner with project managers and estimators to monitor profitability and financial performance of jobs.
Payroll & Compliance
  • Oversee union payroll processing, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Oversee and processing wage garnishments, 401K contributions, and FSA contributions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as Department of Labor and other governing agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits, including labor compliance and certified payroll audits.
Team Leadership & Systems
  • Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-10 years of progressive construction accounting experience.
  • Experience in construction industry accounting required.
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
  • Hands-on experience with union payroll and certified payroll reporting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
