Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily and period-end accounting operations in a dynamic biotech environment. This role is responsible for managing core accounting functions, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SAP S4HANA and a passion for operational excellence in the life sciences sector.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Accounting Operations
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
- Monitor recurring journal entries and advanced payments.
- Prepare and execute payment runs.
- Review and post travel expenses and credit card statements.
- Manage posting of fixed assets and determination of useful life.
- Book and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Lead and assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures.
- Implement, track, and execute internal controls over accounting processes.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages.
- Serve as the primary contact for auditors and tax consultants.
- Collaborate on process improvement projects and policy creation/updates.
- Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows, focusing on automation, efficiency, and accuracy within SAP S4HANA.
- Collaborate with SAP consultants to ensure optimal system maintenance and functionality.
- Drive adoption of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3+ years of US GAAP accounting experience; IFRS experience is a plus.
- Proven experience working with SAP S4HANA.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking ability.
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification.
- Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is highly preferred.
- Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 annually
