PROFESSIONAL STAFF POSITIONS

TITLE: Accounting Technician

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Two years of college and coursework in Accounting or an equivalent combination of college course work and years of related relevant Accounting experience required.
  2. Two years accounting experience required.
  3. Experience in a public school setting with an emphasis on grants and federal programs desirable.
  4. Ability to pass Accounting test.

REPORTING
RELATIONSHIPS: Director of Accounting and/or the Executive Director of Business Services & Operations

PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in maintaining all District Accounts Receivable and prepare and post journal entries to maintain balanced general ledger.
  2. Assist in preparing and posting adjusting journal entries as needed for all general ledger accounts.
  3. Assist in monthly and yearly close of general ledger.
  4. Assist in creating General Ledger accounts as needed using State Accounting manual to ensure compliance.
  5. Assist in requesting Grant Funds as needed and report grant expenditures as requested.
  6. Assist in posting budgets to general ledger and maintain any and all changes.
  7. Process payroll accounts payable checks for PR withholding liability payments needed ie: garnishments.
  8. Transmit weekly accounts payable check files to bank for positive pay acceptance.
  9. Assume responsibility for making daily positive pay decisions.
  10. Provide daily cash report from bank and assist in recording needed transactions in general ledger.
  11. Prepare and post monthly postage, transportation and graphic lab journal entries
  12. Prepare and post monthly Purchase Card journal entries.
  13. Maintain reconcile and replenish all District petty cash accounts. Balance and close at year end.
  14. Assist in preparing general fund deposits.
  15. Assist with audit schedules at year end.
  16. Review and process Employee Reimbursements.
  17. Assist in audit document requests
  18. Maintenance all accounts payable for all funds of the District including Student Activity and Food Service accounts. (Purchase orders/Payments Requests)
  • Review for all needed approvals/funds/w9's, vendor verification or addition, etc.
  • Process purchase orders and payments which includes entering/closing/revisions/payment
  • Process all purchase order revisions
  • Maintain accounts payable files
  • Monitor all Board policies and guidelines for accounting compliance
  1. Liaison with District staff and Vendors for all inquiries related to Accounts Payable.
  2. Maintain W9 records and work with Director of Accounting to issue 1099's yearly.
  3. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting or the Executive Director of Business Services and Operations.


TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months, DFSE Salary Schedule
EVALUATION: Annually

This position is located in the Accounting Department at the Administrative Service Center
