About the Role

Make a direct impact on critical telecom infrastructure across the Eastern WA Region! We are seeking an experienced OSP Engineer II who thrives in the field, enjoys solving complex challenges, and delivers precise, high-quality engineering data. In this role, you will support major telecom clients on high-visibility projects—designing, auditing, and verifying outside plant networks both aerial and underground.

Key Responsibilities

Lead field site walks, audits, and inspections to support fiber, aerial, and underground network design.

Create and/or review outside plant infrastructure designs—pole lines, fiber networks, conduit structures, buried cables, splice points, etc.

Collect accurate field data (measurements, GIS/CAD mapping, clearance, pole loading, make-ready) to inform design packages.

Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including plans, permit packages, design drawings/reports, as-builts, and construction readiness packages.

Support cost estimation, budgeting, and forecast tracking for projects; compare projected vs actual costs.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, local building and utility codes, National Electric Safety Code (NESC), industry best practices, and client standards.

Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and contractors; provide updates; ensure smooth hand-offs and resolve field challenges.

Maintain QA/QC on field data and designs; validate that as-built work matches plans.

Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in telecom outside plant engineering (field and design).

Strong knowledge of pole line assessments, make-ready processes, conduit and buried network design, aerial fiber deployment.

Demonstrated experience in field data collection processes; familiarity with using survey tools, GPS/GIS, and/or mobile data collection technologies.

Experience with preparing permit applications and working with municipal/utility authorities.

Sound understanding of safety codes and standards — including NESC, local jurisdiction code, and utility company guidelines.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), strong attention to detail, and organizational/time-management ability.

Ability to travel regionally, work independently in field settings, and adapt to changing environments/schedules.

Technical Skills (Preferred but not Required)

Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software.

Experience with GIS platforms (e.g., ESRI, QGIS) or data mapping tools.

Familiarity with fiber design software/tools (e.g., IKE, Plume, Bentley, OTDR).

Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Knowledge of aerial vs underground design trade-offs, pole loading analysis, cable pulling, splice enclosure design, road-move design.
