Patient Access Representative

plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centered service within a clinical or front office environment. You will handle a variety of administrative tasks essential to patient care, such as greeting and checking in patients, answering phone calls, processing payments, and managing paperwork in a dynamic, customer-focused clinical setting. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct communication with patients and families to complete the registration process, including collecting demographics and verifying insurance. Utilize computer systems for real-time patient data entry to ensure accuracy and completeness. Gather clinical information and manage referrals, pre-certifications, and authorizations according to insurance requirements. Verify insurance coverage and benefits while creating price estimates and conducting reverifications when necessary. Collect patient co-pays and discuss their financial obligations in a compassionate manner. Identify outstanding balances from previous visits and make efforts to collect amounts due. Gather data from patients to schedule appointments for services before the hospital discharge. Respond empathetically to inquiries from patients and caregivers regarding routine and sensitive topics. At least 1 year of customer service experience in a hospital, office, or customer support role. Must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Microsoft Office products. Experience in hospital patient registration or medical settings. Knowledge of insurance reimbursement procedures and financial verification. Experience in managing and processing financial payments. Understanding of medical terminology and insurance policies. Ability to perform basic math for handling financial transactions. Essential Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods (10 to 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and a phone/headset. *Important Note:* The sign-on bonus is only available to external candidates. Compensation is influenced by various factors including, but not limited to, local labor market conditions, educational background, work experience, and certifications. The hourly pay for this role ranges from $16.00 to $27.69 based on full-time employment. We adhere to all applicable minimum wage laws.
