Overview
The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System's Diagnostic Imaging Service is seeking a well-rounded general Diagnostic Radiologist with subspecialty expertise, particularly in body imaging, PET/CT/nuclear medicine, or neuroradiology. The Malcom Randall VA Medical Center is part of the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, which consists of two medical centers, five large multi-specialty outpatient clinics and eight small community-based primary care outpatient clinics. Responsibilities
General diagnostic radiology skills including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. PET/CT and general nuclear medicine exams. Presenting and participating in multidisciplinary tumor boards and conferences. Teaching and supervising residents and fellows. Consultations with referring clinical services. Supervising the administration of medications, including contrast agents, by technologists and/or nurses. Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Part-time hours of 32 hours per week. Schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor and may vary by facility needs. Benefits and Conditions
Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): eligible; requires meeting specific eligibility requirements and submitting an application within four months of appointment. Program details: award up to $200,000 with duration from one to five years (based on review by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services). Pay: Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possibly 5 days CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal programs carry into retirement). L icensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract; no significant moonlighting restrictions. Qualifications
United States Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited per VA policy). Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an approved school. License and Registration: Current, full, unrestricted medical license in the United States or territory; eligible for board certification in Diagnostic Radiology. Residency Training: VA-approved residency in Diagnostic Radiology; board certification preferred. Fellowships in body imaging, neuroradiology, or nuclear medicine are preferred. English Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English. Other: Full pre-employment requirements including background check, urinalysis, and onboarding; seasonal influenza vaccination is required. Education
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from LCME- or AOA-accredited schools. ECFMG verification may be required for foreign medical graduates as applicable. Additional Information
