Overview
We are seeking an Associate to join our real estate transactional law practice as a retail leasing specialist, with a strong emphasis on retail leasing and development on the landlord/developer side. This position requires strong analytical problem-solving skills, the ability to manage calls and draft documentation independently, and effective collaboration with clients and a wide range of colleagues. Prior leasing experience is required, preferably with a firm rather than in-house. Attorneys with a book of business are welcome to apply; the firm offers additional compensation for origination of clients, though it is not required. Minimum commitment of 1,900 billable hours annually is requested. The firm provides extensive training and one-on-one development with direct client communication. If desired, candidates may negotiate a reduced annual hour commitment with commensurate compensation adjustments. A short writing and lease analysis test will be part of the interview process. This is a hybrid position based in the Chicago office, with on-site presence two days per week for the first 3 months, then one day per week thereafter. Responsibilities
Provide transactional support in retail leasing and related development projects for landlords and developers Draft and review leases, development agreements, and related documentation Coordinate with clients and internal teams; manage calls and communications Contribute to negotiation strategies with tenants and landlords Qualifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proven leasing experience, preferably at a law firm Ability to work independently and collaboratively Experience drafting and negotiating lease documentation Willingness to complete a writing and lease analysis assessment during interviews Location and Hours
Location: Chicago, IL (hybrid). On-site two days per week for 3 months, then one day per week thereafter. Compensation and Benefits
