Responsibilities
Provide visual deterrence against wrongful acts against our client’s employees, customers, and property Understand company policies and successfully execute post orders Access Control Package Screening (X-Ray Machine) Personnel screening (Hand Wands / Magnetometers) Traffic Control and Visitor processing Vehicle inspection Communications and dispatching Patrol areas inside and outside of the facility Emergency and event response Requires standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday Correctly attired in uniform, equipment, and grooming Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States and willing to undergo a full background and personal reference check, in accordance with local law/regulations Capable of making rational and reasonable decisions during tense, uncertain, rapidly evolving situations Minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, military police, or professional correctional officer experience Possess a high school diploma or equivalency; collegiate academic course work or an AA/AS degree is preferred Current SPO (Armed) license issued by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Security Officers Management Branch (SOMB) SPO shall carry a current 9mm Caliber Semiautomatic Pistol, “Qualified” card signed and dated by a certified firearm instructor Certified to carry and shall carry Pepper Spray (Oleoresin Capsicum) Possess a current “CPR/First Aid” card issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills Education & Certifications
Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED; Associates Degree preferred Certification Requirements: DC Armed SPO; CPR/American Red Cross Certification; Handcuffing Tactics and Instruction; Firearms Qualification; MEB Expandable Baton; O.C. aerosol spray Physical Demands
SPOs shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors May be required to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in a crisis Physical stamina in all forms (mental, climatic, etc.) is a fundamental requirement Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairs Additional Information / Benefits
