Business Development Director — Digital MGA About the client: Post-funding, venture-backed digital MGA entering a rapid scaling phase. Modern underwriting and data platform, strong capacity partners, and growing demand across broker markets. The brief: Own broker distribution and build the go-to-market motion end-to-end. Activate producer relationships, shape the playbook with underwriting/product, and lead a small team to deliver profitable GWP growth. Location: Hybrid/remote (US or UK) with travel to key broker hubs. Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer / CRO.

What you’ll do

Build and run the broker GTM: segmentation, coverage, territories, quotas, enablement. Acquire, onboard, and activate wholesale & retail brokers; drive submissions and improve quote-to-bind. Lead, coach, and scale a small BD/partnerships team; set goals, hiring plan, and operating cadence. Close the feedback loop with underwriting and product; inform appetite, pricing, and portal/API priorities. Structure producer agreements/appointments with compliance and legal. Launch repeatable campaigns with marketing: roadshows, webinars, co-marketing, case studies. Own CRM discipline (Salesforce/HubSpot), pipeline quality, forecasting, and territory performance. Expand strategic platforms/partnerships (digital wholesalers, networks, embedded/API channels). Collaborate with carrier/reinsurer partners on capacity storytelling and growth plans. Report GTM KPIs and market insights to leadership and board.

What good looks like (12 months)

Net-new active brokers producing bound premium in priority regions. Predictable pipeline with faster cycles and higher conversion. GWP growth at/above plan with improving unit economics. Strong broker satisfaction and repeat placements. A high-performing team with clear playbooks, territories, and targets.

What you’ll bring

7+ years in

commercial or specialty insurance

with a broker-led distribution focus (MGA, carrier, or program background). Proven record of new-logo acquisition and growth via wholesale/retail channels. Experience building GTM motions from early stage to scale. Team leadership (hiring, coaching, quota setting, performance management). Deep broker network (national/regional wholesalers and retailers). Cross-functional collaborator with underwriting, product, and operations.

Nice to have

Line expertise in one or more: cyber, excess casualty, E&O/D&O, marine, property cat, parametric. Digital distribution: portals, API/embedded, marketplace integrations, comparative raters.
