Summary of Work
This position is in Bismarck, North Dakota. All normal work hours will be conducted in person, in an office setting. No remote work or hybrid work is available. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

The Software Architect is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the architecture of a highly complex environment, ensuring that technology aligns with business needs and drives operational improvements. This role plays a key part in setting the agency\'s technical direction in accordance with the State\'s architectural framework. Additionally, the Software Architect provides leadership and supervision within the IT/CJIS division. Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain professional relationships with business units and stakeholders to understand their objectives and challenges. Analyze business goals, needs, and obstacles to develop effective technology solutions. Review grant applications to assess technical feasibility and impact. Provide expert technical recommendations while managing stakeholder expectations. Document current and future-state workflows to support system enhancements. Gather and define business and functional requirements for technology projects. Develop wireframes, user interface (UI) mockups, and prototypes to illustrate and communicate solution designs. Ensure all solutions align with user needs, technical standards, policies, and best practices. Collaborate on database design and optimization. Assist in resolving data-related challenges, including deadlocks and timeouts. Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance system performance and efficiency. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in .NET development and possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. They are adept at implementing new systems and procedures and assessing their effectiveness to drive continuous improvement. In addition to the monthly salary, this position includes fully paid health insurance for employee and family, the option to participate in employee-paid dental and vision for employee and family, participation in the state NDPERS defined contribution retirement plan as well as the option to participate in the 457 deferred compensation plan, the option to contribute to a medical spending account, and earning annual and sick leave. Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor\'s degree in computer science, information systems, project management, or a closely related field. Additional work experience as described may substitute for up to two years of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Four years of work experience in business analysis, software development, or technology implementation. Relevant experience may include requirements planning and management, system design, solution assessment, training, customer account management, or IT product/project management. Demonstrated experience supervising, 2 years minimum Demonstrate experience with Business Architecture Demonstrate experience with Data Architecture Demonstrate experience with Technology Architecture Must have excellent prioritization, time management, and organization skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective, harmonious working relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Display interpersonal skills in dealing with customers and co-workers, utilize appropriate telephone etiquette, demonstrate appropriate written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate ability to perform standard office tasks and operate standard office equipment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills Ability to implement new systems and procedures and evaluate their effectiveness Must successfully complete the interview process, reference checks, criminal record checks, and standard background check.
