Our client, a global leader in innovation and technology, is seeking an experienced
Assistant Chief Intellectual Property Counsel
to join their legal team. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned IP attorney to handle complex, high-impact matters in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and prosecute patent applications worldwide Manage opposition, IPR, and provide litigation support in IP disputes Serve as primary contact for business clients, outside counsel, and international colleagues Provide IP services related to dispute management, transactions, compliance, and strategic legal advice Lead significant IP transactional processes and manage complex global patent portfolios Oversee IP litigation and dispute resolution strategies for high-stakes matters Act as a subject matter expert in key areas of IP law with responsibilities across business units and geographies Additional duties as assigned Qualifications
Required: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school 10+ years of law firm and/or in-house intellectual property experience Active member of a U.S. state bar in good standing Registered to practice before the USPTO Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in an artificial intelligence-related discipline (e.g., computer science, mathematics, cognitive science, computational neuroscience) Substantial experience drafting and prosecuting AI/ML-related patent applications (neural networks, symbolic AI, deep learning, etc.) Experience with IP litigation and USPTO post-grant proceedings Admission to practice in Minnesota (or ability to obtain within six months) Strong academic credentials and business acumen Proven ability to deliver practical legal advice aligned with strategic business goals Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels Demonstrated track record of managing complex, global patent portfolios High energy, results-oriented approach, and commitment to responsive client service Travel
