A law firm seeks a highly experienced Intellectual Property Attorney in Miami, Florida, with a robust background in patent law and hard sciences. The candidate will manage complex patent portfolios, advise on IP strategy, and handle prosecution and litigation across various technical fields.
Duties
Draft, prosecute, and manage U.S. and international patent applications in hard science disciplines. Provide strategic counseling on intellectual property matters, including portfolio development and risk assessment. Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analyses. Represent clients in patent litigation and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. Collaborate with inventors, scientists, engineers, and in-house counsel to develop and protect innovations. Support IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing transactions. Keep current with evolving IP laws, USPTO procedures, and industry best practices. Requirements
22 years of experience in intellectual property law, focusing on patent prosecution and strategy. Strong technical background in hard sciences. Proven success managing large patent portfolios and advising technology clients. Experience with both U.S. and international IP systems. Litigation and post-grant proceeding experience preferred but not required. Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Undergraduate or advanced degree in a hard science or engineering discipline. Certifications
Admission to a state bar (Florida preferred). Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) required. Skills
Strong technical and legal analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Capable of translating complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
