Description
Coming October 2025 (Pending Funding): Program Manager - Maternal Home Visiting Program
Washington, DC | Hybrid / On-site
Every pregnancy carries both joy and uncertainty. For some parents in DC, those uncertainties are magnified by lack of access to care, unstable housing, financial pressures, or isolation. But with the right supports, every parent can be empowered to give their child a strong, healthy start.
As the
Program Manager - Maternal Home Visiting Program , you will lead a team that brings care directly into homes — building trust with pregnant and postpartum parents, connecting them to resources, and ensuring babies and families thrive.
One day, you may be coaching a home visitor as they support a first-time mother with breastfeeding challenges. The next, you’re reviewing program data to identify barriers for immigrant families, or meeting with a local clinic to strengthen referral pipelines. Every decision you make — from supervising staff to managing grants — translates into healthier mothers, safer births, and stronger families.
This isn’t just program management. It’s about changing life outcomes at the most critical moment of a family’s journey.
What You’ll Do
Lead and Oversee: Manage home visiting services with fidelity to proven models like Nurse-Family Partnership or Parents as Teachers.
Coach and Support: Supervise and mentor staff, ensuring high-quality, culturally competent care.
Ensure Accountability: Oversee budgets, federal/state grants, reporting, and compliance.
Improve Quality: Track outcomes, lead CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) processes, and integrate participant feedback.
Engage Community: Build partnerships with maternal-child health providers, funders, and community groups.
Elevate Impact: Represent the program in coalitions, committees, and public forums to advance equity and visibility.
Qualifications What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, or Human Services (Master’s preferred).
5-6 years of experience in maternal/child health, home visiting, or program management, including 3 years in supervision.
Strong background in grant writing, budgeting, and CQI.
Excellent communication, partnership-building, and cultural competence.
(Preferred) Experience with DC maternal health systems, and knowledge of models like NFP or Parents as Teachers.
Why It Matters Maternal health disparities remain one of DC’s greatest public health challenges. This role is your chance to lead change — ensuring mothers and infants not only survive, but thrive. By building trust, improving access, and fostering equity, you will help write a new story for families across the District.
Expected Start Date:
October 2025 (pending funding).
