Branch Executive Director

YMCA of the USA . The Downtown YMCA in Columbia seeks a proactive leader to strengthen community impact and drive growth across all aspects of the branch. Located two blocks from Main Street, the Downtown YMCA is at the heart of Columbia’s arts, sports, dining, and entertainment district. This role focuses on delivering programs that enrich lives and ensure the YMCA remains an integral part of Columbia’s future. Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Direct the total operation of the Downtown YMCA, including supervising staff and overseeing the branch budget, marketing, public relations, and program development. Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of all staff, including direct management of the Youth Development Director, Sports Director, Healthy Living Department staff, and Membership Department staff. Manage all financial aspects of the branch, including budget forecasting, expense monitoring, and revenue generation to ensure financial stability and sustainability of the association. Coordinate the development of the branch Advisory Council and its committees. Manage the branch’s financial development activities. Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community. Develop and implement strategies to grow the branch’s membership base. Develop and manage the branch operating budget and ensure budget targets are met or exceeded. Direct branch strategic planning efforts and develop the annual operating plan. Develop and direct high-quality, relationship-based member engagement strategies. Foster a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs that support the YMCA mission. Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment. Direct branch marketing and communication efforts. Serve as a member of YMCA management and support overall organizational objectives. Perform any other functions deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the YMCA of Columbia. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, social services, or equivalent. Five or more years of professional leadership experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred. Knowledge and experience in operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, program development, volunteerism, facility and property management, and sound financial practices. Understanding of the YMCA mission and the roles of volunteers and staff. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups and build authentic, constructive relationships. Ability to manage multiple departments and priorities to achieve organizational objectives. YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred. Seniority level
