Overview
Transform networks into operational edge as a
Network Engineer
with GDIT. You’ll architect, integrate, and sustain Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) and related Navy tactical network capabilities with NIWC Pacific (Codes 55131/55132/55133) in support of PMW-160 Tactical Networks—across ashore, afloat, subsurface, airborne, mobile, and joint environments. What you’ll need to succeed (Required)
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance.
Experience: 2+ years network engineering (design/implementation/ops) for enterprise or tactical C4ISR networks; 2+ years supporting Navy programs (e.g., CANES/ADNS-like).
Hands-on with BGP/OSPF (IS-IS a plus), EVPN-VXLAN or equivalent overlays, multicast, QoS, and IPv6.
Virtualized networking (vSphere/vCenter; NSX-T or ACI) and perimeter security (next-gen firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS).
Authoring IDPs/as-builts/BoMs and supporting SOVT/DT&E/TRR activities.
Tools: Wireshark/Tshark, SolarWinds (or equivalent), Git; automation with Ansible and Python.
Standards & Compliance:
Working knowledge of DISA SRGs/STIGs, IAVM processes, and Navy change/configuration governance (CCB/PTRB/CMPro).
Certifications:
DoD 8570/8140 IAT-II baseline (e.g., Security+ CE) required; CCNP Enterprise (or JNCIP) highly preferred.
Education:
BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (equivalent experience may substitute per GDIT policy).
Work Location:
Onsite NIWC Pacific, San Diego, CA (labs/shipyards/fleet concentration areas). Limited CONUS/OCONUS travel as tasking requires; ability to work in classified labs and onboard ships/submarines/airborne ground sites.

What you’ll need to succeed (Desired)
CCIE, JNCIE, VCP-NV, PCNSE/NSE, RHCSA/RHCE, ITIL v4 Foundation.
Optical/DWDM/SONET and timing/sync (NTP/PTP) experience; SATCOM integration; GPON design/implementation.
Experience with TACLANE/KG-series COMSEC integration and cross-domain/guard interfaces.
Prior NIWC Pacific/PMW-160 support; familiarity with BESEP/SHIPALT workflows and CCRI preparations.
Container/Kubernetes networking (CNI/Calico), API-driven network automation (NETCONF/RESTCONF/YANG), and zero-trust reference designs.
