Director, Business Development and Capture – Federal Law Enforcement at Akima This role focuses on growth across the full business development lifecycle, including identification, capture management, solutions development, proposal writing/review, and post‑award handoff. The Director will pursue differentiated IT and technology solutions for Federal Law Enforcement agencies and report to the VP of Business Development for EMG. Responsibilities

Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities that align with EMG’s growth markets Lead new business pursuits across the BD lifecycle from client engagement through capture and proposal submission Establish, nurture, and expand relationships with customers, internal stakeholders, industry partners, and market influencers Develop and execute customer call plans, assess the competitive landscape, and implement differentiated win strategies Represent Akima at industry groups, conferences, and events Respond to Government market research inquiries (RFIs, Sources Sought Notices, etc.) Shape acquisition strategies using client relationships, capabilities, white papers, partners, and contracting vehicles Lead internal gate reviews, develop capture strategies, and prepare business cases for new opportunities Support negotiation of teaming agreements and contract discussions Collaborate with technical, program, and proposal teams to design, review, and publish proposal responses Contribute directly to proposal development (writing, reviewing, color team participation) Ensure pipeline accuracy, including probability of win, revenue projections, and forecasting inputs Work with company leadership to align with strategic objectives and drive growth Drive growth on Akima’s FBI ITSSS-2 BPA by identifying task order opportunities and leading targeted capture and proposal efforts Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a relevant discipline from an accredited university Experience: 10–15 years of progressive BD experience in Federal contracting; experience in 8(a) and small business sectors is a plus Proven Wins: Track record of winning new business with relevant Federal agencies; at least three IT/tech/mission support contract wins in the last three years, each with a minimum total contract value of $25M Domain Knowledge: Strong background in Federal IT/technology solutions, software development, digital automation, and related mission support services Market Knowledge: Established relationships with DOJ and related agencies Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of statutory and regulatory frameworks governing Federal law enforcement Acquisition Expertise: Deep knowledge of Federal procurement processes and market trends Strategic Growth: Experience in market analysis, strategic planning, and capture leading to major awards Leadership: Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage multiple captures under tight timelines Skills: Strong communication, presentation, and proposal writing; effective sales presence; solid business acumen Attributes: Detail-oriented, adaptable, objective-driven, and able to work in a remote/near-office environment Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite Other: Willingness to travel; remote position with preference for candidates near Akima offices (Herndon, VA; Tampa, FL; Huntsville, AL; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO) Job ID: 2025-19403 Work Type: Remote Pay Range: $195,000 - $200,000 Benefits: Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k); PTO for regular employees
