Overview
Mass General Brigham (MGB) invites applications for the MLS Laboratory Instructor. This full-time position (4x10 shifts) focuses on laboratory instruction, course development, safety oversight, and student engagement within a multi-disciplinary MLS curriculum. The role is structured as a 70/15/10/5 mix: 70% laboratory instruction for major courses, 15% primary instruction for minor courses, 10% student support and engagement, and 5% serving as the MLS Laboratory Safety Officer. Course assignments may be adjusted based on experience and strengths.
Responsibilities
70% Laboratory Instruction (Major Courses): Provide direct instructional support for Clinical Hematology and Clinical Microbiology. Prepare, facilitate, and troubleshoot laboratory exercises; maintain SOPs; manage supply inventory and ordering; evaluate student performance. Provide backup lab instruction for other courses as needed.
15% Primary Instructor for Minor Coursework: Independently deliver both lecture and lab components for Clinical Hemostasis, Urinalysis & Body Fluids, and contribute to Clinical Immunology. Plan instruction, assess students, and submit grades.
10% Student Support & Engagement: Conduct one-on-one and small-group review sessions, onboarding, informal advising, and participate in high school outreach, information sessions, and career fairs. Serve on the MLS Admissions Committee.
5% Laboratory Safety Officer: Manage chemical inventory, SDS maintenance, biohazard and waste procedures, autoclaving, and annual/biannual safety trainings for incoming students.
Collaborate with curriculum leads and work under the supervision of the MLS Program Director.
Qualifications Education
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or related field (required).

Licenses and Credentials
Medical Technologist (ASCP) – ASCP-BOC (required)
Experience
Minimum three years in an MLS clinical laboratory role.
Experience in clinical hematology and clinical microbiology.
Experience training and precepting staff or students.
Familiarity with SOP development and training; inventory management in a clinical lab.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Understanding of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements for MLS programs.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
Experience in medical laboratory education or training.
Familiarity with current trends and advancements in medical laboratory science.
