Job Summary
The Dental Center Clinics Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical, fiscal, human resource, and quality outcomes across the Dental Center clinics. This role includes active management of all administrative functions and day-to-day operations to ensure smooth and efficient clinic performance. In close collaboration with Dental Center leadership, the manager will establish and maintain standards of care that promote high-quality, cost-effective service delivery. The role also leads innovative projects aimed at improving clinical programs and operational workflows. The Clinics Manager plays a key leadership role by articulating a clear vision, effectively communicating it to staff, and actively engaging individuals and teams to achieve strategic goals. A strong commitment to staff development, talent cultivation, and continuous learning—both personal and organizational—is essential. Additionally, the manager partners with leaders across the Dental Center and the School of Dentistry to:
Advance quality improvement strategies
Foster a positive and professional work environment
Ensure timely delivery of services
Enhance satisfaction among patients, providers, learners, and staff
This position has full oversight of administrative services, including financial accountability. The manager works closely with the School of Dentistry’s finance leadership team to monitor, manage, and optimize the operating budget. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $120,900 - $189,000 (Annual Rate). UCSF Dental Center is a cohesive entity within the School of Dentistry. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Education or related area and 7-10 years of relevant progressive experience; prior supervisory experience; prior experience in managing a clinical enterprise or unit. I or equivalent combination of experience or training. Previous dental billing experience in a managed care setting. Clinic/center management experience with progressive expertise in practice management, scheduling, customer-service methods, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology. Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently. Demonstrated managerial skills and human resources management knowledge, including staff deployment, resource utilization, budgeting and financial management, quality improvement, and program planning and implementation. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to convey complex information clearly and to influence all levels of staff. Knowledge of healthcare and clinic operations information technology, including billing systems and patient care workflows and processes. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, and related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments. Demonstrated project management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Expertise in MS Excel, Word and similar computer applications.
