Job Summary The UCSF School of Dentistry is actively recruiting a

Prosthodontist

to serve as the Clinic Director of the UCSF Dental Practice, a high-volume, multi-specialty dental clinic located in San Mateo. This flagship practice emphasizes technology, integrated care, and an exceptional patient experience.

Under the general direction of the UCSF School of Dentistry Chief Operating Officer and Vice Dean, the Clinic Director will lead the day-to-day operations of the UCSF Dental Practice, ensuring alignment with UCSF Health standards. The Clinic Director will drive operational excellence, including financial performance and sustainability, quality assurance and risk management, standard operating procedures, patient safety, and incident reporting. They will facilitate clinical and consultative conferences to support integrated, collaborative care. The Clinic Director will oversee a multidisciplinary dental team including professional and ancillary staff, and will champion a culture of service excellence, patient-centered care, and interprofessional collaboration.

As Prosthodontist, the Clinic Director will work under the general direction of the UCSF Chief Dental Officer and will provide direct patient care with a focus on complex restorative and prosthodontic treatments. They will diagnose and treat oral diseases and functional conditions requiring prosthodontic intervention; will consult and collaborate with other dental and medical providers to deliver interdisciplinary care and will participate in advancing digital dentistry and technology-enhanced treatment modalities.

Location of the San Mateo clinic is 1100 Park Place, San Mateo, CA 94403.

NOTE:

This is a full-time contract role for 2 years and eligible for renewal.

Required Qualifications

Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).

Completion of a post-doctoral residency program in prosthodontics.

Completion of a CODA-accredited training program in Prosthodontics.

Must be eligible for licensure or special permit in the State of California.

Proven experience working as a prosthodontist.

Superior dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Outstanding patient management skills.

Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making.

Strong clinic/center patient care management skills, including practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and/or information technology.

Broad knowledge of the patient population served and the requirements for service delivery.

Commitment to using an antiracist/anti-oppressive framework in patient care, education, teaching, and advocacy.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification through the American Board of Prosthodontics is preferred.

Knowledge of healthcare information technology and patient care workflows.

Familiar with medical records, Epic, Axium and billing processes.

Ability to lead multiple dentists and staff in a busy clinic operation.

Skills in complex esthetic and reconstructive dentistry.

Strong interpersonal skills to work with patients and colleagues.

License/Certification

CODA-accredited Prosthodontics training completion.

Must be eligible for licensure or special permit in California.
