Senior Principal IT Solution Architect - Global Price Optimizer Location: Medtronic facility in Fridley, Minnesota (U.S. Operational Headquarters) or Mounds View, Minnesota. Approximately 5% travel expected. In-person collaboration; onsite 4 days a week to foster professional growth and cross-functional collaboration.

The Global Pricing and Contracting IT team partners with major functions to build and enhance systems that leverage artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to set customer prices and create effective contracts. This work aims to maximize revenue and market share through pricing and contracting strategy. The role offers exposure to the business, products and data, with opportunities across commercial roles.

A Day in the Life

The Global Price Optimizer Solution Architect is responsible for understanding pricing strategy and integrating Pricing & Contracting ecosystems end-to-end to SAP suite (Vistex, SAP ECC/S4) to meet Commercial pricing & contracting needs. You will translate business needs into IT solutions, advocate for solutions that drive value for customers and patients, and align work with the Chief Architect to ensure global architectural consistency.

DESIGN & INTEGRATION: Architect and implement Price Optimizer solutions across pricing and contracting systems, ensuring cohesive system integration.

TRUSTED ADVISOR: Bridge the gap between Pricing & Contracting and IT; ensure stakeholders understand how solutions and data drive business decisions.

TRANSLATOR: Convert business needs into solution architecture plans; clearly explain how solutions can be implemented.

DISCOVERY & DOCUMENTATION: Lead discovery sessions, gather requirements and ensure thorough documentation.

COMPLIANCE OVERSIGHT: Ensure all solutions comply with regulatory and data privacy standards.

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Provide guidance on pricing-related solutions and best practices.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Analyze complex challenges and deliver clear, actionable solutions.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Identify opportunities for improvement and deliver more efficient ways of working.

COLLABORATION: Participate in agile meetings and address high-level architecture considerations.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING: Build domain expertise in Medtronic’s products, customers and markets to deliver relevant solutions.

VALUE ADVOCACY: Evaluate pricing optimization initiatives and champion IT solutions that add value for customers and patients.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree

10+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

Strong understanding of system design and development lifecycles

Experience implementing technologies spanning automation, Pricing, Quoting and Contracting

Experience in Quote-To-Cash transformation in at least 2 large implementation cycles

Experience with Quote-To-Cash software and IT SDLC lifecycle, with a preference for SAP ABAP, Vistex

Ability to read technical code, sequence diagrams and pseudo-code when necessary

Solid background in Quote-To-Cash business analysis including use cases, swim lanes, story cards and value streams

Understanding of Excel and how to extract/analyze data

Experience working in agile methodology

Experience defining new processes and improving existing ones

Ability to solicit clear requirements, translate them into technical specifications and deliver reliable solutions

Ability to translate complex technical topics to business management and users

Self-motivated problem solver and ability to navigate ambiguity

Strong relationship-building with business users, technical staff, and executives

Excellent communication skills tailored to different audiences

Ability to manage multiple priorities without compromising collaboration

Benefits & Compensation

Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S. locations (excl. PR): $152,800.00 - $229,200.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive through the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). Regular employees receive a comprehensive set of benefits and compensation plans, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) with employer contributions, paid time off, holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and more.
