This is a full-time position based in Chicago, IL or Raleigh, NC (with up to 50% travel).
This role is a Chief of Staff to the CEO at a Brydon portfolio company in the Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) consulting & software space. The Chief of Staff will support the CEO in executing the company’s strategic vision, drive strategic growth initiatives, enable cross-functional alignment, and optimize operational effectiveness. The position offers broad visibility across the organization and opportunities to influence outcomes across the entire business.
Base pay range: $200,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
About the Role A Brydon portfolio company in GIS consulting and software is seeking an exceptional Chief of Staff to join our leadership team. You will be a key advisor, collaborator and executor, translating strategic conversations into actionable roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives, and driving high-performance across the organization. You will work closely with the CEO to align priorities, streamline operations, and foster a culture of excellence. You will have exposure and influence across the full organization and contribute to Brydon’s Chief of Staff network for ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO to execute and advance the company’s strategic vision; translate vision into actionable plans, initiatives, and metrics; lead the annual strategic planning process.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between the CEO and the leadership team; align goals and initiatives across departments.
Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs and metrics; track progress against strategic objectives and provide insights to the CEO and leadership team.
Financial Performance Oversight: Assist with FP&A activities, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis; provide insights to support strategic decisions.
Leadership Support: Prepare for and run key meetings (leadership meetings, monthly business reviews, board meetings, off-sites); produce presentations and memos for clear communication.
Requirements
3+ years of work experience in consulting and/or a PE or VC-backed high-growth software company
Experience with businesses selling to governments or product development is preferred
Ability to adapt to varied responsibilities and partner with executives, operations, and front-line staff
Strong management skills with the ability to lead multiple high-priority projects across different teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence at all levels
Analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of turning strategic discussions into actionable plans
Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; MBA preferred but not required
Location
Chicago, IL or Raleigh, NC (with up to 50% travel expected)
Benefits & Career Path
Full-time salary position with benefits including health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off. Compensation (including any equity) depends on experience; yearly OTE expected to be in the $200,000 - $225,000 range
Brydon Chiefs of Staff typically spend a minimum of 2 years at a portfolio company (ideally longer); opportunities to advance within Brydon’s network or portfolio companies
