Overview

DTSC is hiring a first-line Senior Engineering Geologist in our Berkeley Office to oversee a team of geologists in the Geological Services Branch. The Geological Services Branch provides internal geologic consultation and technical project support for a broad array of DTSC environmental evaluation and remediation projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable individual with excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical skills. Your efforts will help advance DTSC's mission of cleaning up California's contaminated sites to protect Californians and restore land to beneficial use. Responsibilities

Review, approve and track the project work of engineering geologist staff performing geological document reviews Provide geological expertise to staff in the cleanup and remediation of hazardous waste releases Provide regulatory oversight on field activities, such as drilling, sample collection, remote sensing, remedial pilot testing, corrective action implementation, and well abandonment to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements Prepare reports for use by the Site Mitigation and Restoration Program for monitoring and developing staff performance measures Plan, organize, direct, and provide managerial review of the work performed in the GSB Berkeley Office Provide regular and timely written performance appraisals for staff Desirable Qualifications

Licensed California Professional Geologist/Certified Hydrogeologist/Certified Engineering Geologist preferred Post-Graduate Degree in Geology or closely related field preferred Leadership experience Soil, soil gas, vapor intrusion and groundwater investigation/remediation experience Excellent interpersonal communications and writing skills Two or more years of regulatory agency or consulting firm experience preferred Special Requirements
