Working Title: Northern California Branch Chief Classification: ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM MANAGER I (SUPERVISORY) Salary: $12,185.00 - $15,148.00 Work Location: Alameda County Telework: Hybrid Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Facility: Berkeley Regional Office This position is located at the Berkeley Regional Office. DTSC is a member of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). Manage and supervise subordinate supervisory engineers and scientists responsible for the evaluation and cleanup of hazardous waste contaminated properties. Ensure SMRP decisions are technically sound, innovative, and protective of public health and the environment in line with DTSC goals and procedures. Provide staff with support, expertise, resources, and training to make appropriate project decisions efficiently. Identify and procure adequate resources to meet staff recruitment, development, and performance needs. Advise and consult with Division Chiefs, Deputy Director, and Director on policy issues related to SMRP; respond to requests from CalEPA, the Governor's Office, the Legislature, stakeholders, and the public. Manage the Branch budget and expenditures related to federal grants, special funds, contracts, and cooperative agreements, ensuring funding for staffing and cleanup projects. Desirable Qualifications

Experience supervising large teams of environmental professionals. Knowledge or experience in cleanup and remediation of properties under California law. Experience developing internal processes and procedures. Strong written and oral communication skills for presentations and public interaction. Experience managing change and promoting a diverse work environment. Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer or Professional Geologist is a plus. Special Requirements
