Overview
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Design and Engineering Services is looking for an Engineer/Architect 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving. Your role will be directly tied to the most critical aspects of the mission, coordinating with multiple functional sections within the Department and leading staff from multiple areas of expertise to deliver transportation improvement projects. What You Will Be Doing
Leading design and technical staff in preparing, reviewing and selecting a variety of design or engineering solutions for transportation related projects. Coordinating the unit’s efforts with various other work groups, including consultants, project stakeholders, and functional support groups within the Department (planning, environmental, materials, utilities, right-of-way, etc.). Actively mentoring emerging management candidates among staff, providing on-the-job training opportunities, and coaching staff. Establishing scopes, schedules and budgets, preparing Project Management Plans, and assembling project design teams for multiple transportation projects in support of preparation of contract documents. Responding to requests for information from the public, Department leaders, other agencies, and the Legislature. Valid Driver’s License Required Position requires registration as a professional Civil Engineer or Architect in the State of Alaska. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and three years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect series), or the equivalent. Persons not registered in Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity and must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
