The Technical Accounting Manager for the Pharma Services Group (PSG) will address technical accounting issues including ASC 606 revenue recognition, inventory, long-lived assets, transaction structuring, leases and real estate transactions, adoption of new standards, acquisition accounting, due diligence, and support of finance operations in the application of US GAAP. Responsibilities
Demonstrate expertise in US GAAP by clarifying accounting policies, proactively researching topics, and assisting sites with implementation of new accounting pronouncements
Collaborate with business teams to structure sales contracts for favorable and accurate ASC 606 revenue recognition
Evaluate sales contracts to ensure compliance with US GAAP and prepare ad-hoc memorandums for leadership on significant and complex contracts
Monitor and oversee internal controls around revenue recognition accounting in accordance with company policies and develop/document contract review processes
Review balance sheet and income statement fluxes to analyze financial performance
Support and review monthly supplemental and roll forward reporting by sites, and train teams on accurate reporting
Develop and deploy training materials for process, control, or accounting changes
Assist with audit requests for internal and external audits
Invest time to understand PSG’s business by collaborating on ad-hoc projects with cross functional teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with meaningful coursework in technical accounting principles
5+ years of accounting and/or finance experience
Public accounting experience, including time at a Big 4 firm, is desirable
Strong US GAAP knowledge and intuition for business
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, including advanced knowledge of pivots, charts, and formulas in Excel
Experience with Salesforce.com, SAP, Cognos, and Hyperion is very desirable
Strong project management skills and structured demeanor with focus on process/continuous improvements
Ability to prioritize multiple projects, self-motivated, flexible, and strong work ethic
Demonstrated track record of increasing levels of responsibility
