Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery

The neurosurgery team is seeking a Physician Assistant to join a strong and growing program in the Austin area. Responsibilities
Primarily Monday–Friday daytime schedule with rotating on-call and weekend rounding. Clinic and operating room responsibilities, inpatient and outpatient care. Work within an Epic EMR system in a fully integrated health system. Provide assessment and management of patients: perform physical examinations, order and interpret tests, formulate treatment plans, and monitor patient outcomes. Prescribe and manage medications and other therapies in accordance with approved policies, emphasizing safety and cost-effectiveness. Develop comprehensive, outcomes-based treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. Counsel patients and families on medical processes, medications, nutrition, and health promotion; educate on drug regimens and possible interactions. Maintain thorough patient records; initiate referrals as needed; provide consultation for conditions within the specialty. Manage patients in settings beyond primary clinic (inpatient, emergency, surgical/procedural, etc.). Perform invasive procedures within scope and competency as delegated by supervising physician. Provide pre- and post-operative follow-up; participate in perioperative management including outpatient, inpatient, and OR settings. Contribute to coverage needs as required by the department. Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited PA program. Experience: Less than 1 year of experience. Certification/License: Current Physician Assistant license in Texas; NCCPA certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
