The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing seeks a Chief Business Officer (CBO) to serve as an advisor to the Dean, a member of the school\'s leadership team, and a transformational executive-level leader who works on critical financial, administrative and operations across the school. The CBO reports directly to the Dean and supports the Dean by implementing financial and human resources strategies, addressing risk management and operational challenges, and developing the administrative and operational direction of the school. Salary: $145,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions: Repetitive use of keyboard; occasional evening and weekend work during peak periods; full-time on campus in Austin, TX; physical activity for events may be required. Responsibilities
Leadership : Serve as a member of the Dean\'s leadership team and work with the Dean and school leadership to advance strategic goals in business, personnel, facilities and technology operations. Carry initiatives through to completion. Lead, develop, and retain high-performing business and administrative professionals. Serve as liaison to the Provost\'s Office, Budget Office, Financial and Administrative Services and other administrative offices; participate in committees and workgroups as required.
Financial Oversight : Provide strategic counsel on initiatives, resources, opportunities and challenges; oversee accounting, reporting, forecasting, purchasing, contracts, accounts payable, travel, and cash management; maintain internal controls and compliance with policies and regulations; prepare budget and five-year planning documents; provide regular financial reports and ad hoc analyses to the Dean and senior leaders.
Human Resources : Oversee HR administration, ensure compliance with policies; serve as a member of HR Leadership Council; implement HR goals and priorities; collaborate with university-wide HR to support priorities; oversee merit and performance appraisal processes; manage financial faculty hiring commitments.
Building Management : Oversee facilities operations and renovations; provide input on space allocation; coordinate security staffing and on-site operations; coordinate across campus as needed.
Information Technology : Oversee technology needs and operations; set goals and budgets; work with LAITS and nursing IT personnel to meet faculty and staff technology needs.
Other related functions as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field.
Ten years of progressive administrative experience including financial planning, forecasting, cost and financial analysis, budgeting, accounting and reporting, and HR management within a large organization; ability to communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; professional demeanor.
Ability to operate creatively and effectively in a complex academic and business environment with faculty, deans, central administration and senior officials.
Demonstrated competencies: personnel management, team building, organizational savvy, operations, problem solving, decision making, prioritization, planning, change management, results delivery, relationship management and collaboration.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field with more than ten years of relevant leadership experience.
Experience in financial and business operations in an academic healthcare department, school or college with clinical operations.
Experience in a large academic department head office or dean\'s office or provost\'s office of a public higher education institution.
Knowledge of the full HR lifecycle for faculty, staff and student employees.
Familiarity with university information systems (DEFINE, COGNOS, PowerBI, Workday, etc.).
