York Technical College seeks an innovative and experienced Vice President for Academic Affairs to lead the College’s academic operations as Chief Academic Officer. Reporting to the President, the Vice President will oversee academic programs, faculty development, and student success initiatives, while ensuring academic quality and alignment with the College’s mission and strategic goals. This executive role also serves on the College’s Executive Leadership Team and represents the academic division in internal and external partnerships.
Responsibilities
Academic Leadership: As York Technical College’s Chief Academic Officer, plays a critical role in shaping the academic direction and success of the College by developing and executing the College’s academic success plan, providing executive leadership to the College’s deans, academic administration and library/academic support service area. Directs the development and implementation of new academic programs, flexible academic scheduling focused on student needs, academic procedures to maintain academic quality and relevance, and cross-college efforts to improve student success in the academic programs. Fosters a supportive and accountable academic environment promoting faculty excellence and student access to faculty, academic advising, coaching and library services. Fosters a collaborative environment that ensures a fully integrated, exceptional, seamless student experience. Budgets and allocates resources for academic programs, classroom tools, faculty hiring and development, and academic support services to optimize resources in line with the College’s strategic direction. Represents the College in the community and partners with the community, school districts and other entities in support of College objectives.
Curriculum Development and Assessment: Ensures the relevance, flexibility, progressiveness and continuous improvement of the program curricula. Ensures academic programs and conferred academic credentials serve business and industry, actively meet student needs and accreditation standards. Ensures the set of academic programs is future-focused, forward facing and relevant to the communities the College serves. Certifies faculty are appropriately credentialed.
Strategic Direction for Service Excellence: Provides executive oversight to college-wide efforts, leading projects to advance student success, to improve academic programs, ensure flexibility and nimbleness of academic programs, and drives continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making. Fosters a culture of excellence and innovation.
Collegewide Leadership: Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, Crisis Management Team, The Council for Academic and Student Affairs and other committees and activities at the direction of the President. Serves as designee of president as needed.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in education, higher education administration, business administration, or a related discipline
At least seven years of progressively responsible work experience in higher education administration, with a focus on academic affairs
Earned Doctorate
Knowledge of academic leadership principles, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements in higher education
Knowledge of current pedagogical approaches and trends in curriculum development and assessment
Strong, collaborative leadership skills and the ability to provide hands on guidance to various departments
Familiarity with budgeting and resource allocation processes within an academic setting
Awareness of community engagement strategies and partnerships to support institutional objectives
Strategic planning and project management skills to drive college-wide initiatives and enhance service excellence
Ability to effectively allocate resources to optimize academic programs and support services
Flexibility and adaptability to navigate complex challenges and perform duties as assigned by the President
