Overview
We are seeking a mission-driven Controller with a strong background in nonprofit accounting to lead and strengthen financial operations for a respected Community Development Corporation. In this high-impact role, you will oversee all accounting operations for an $11M budget, manage a team of accountants, and ensure financial processes support affordable housing development and small business lending efforts in historically underserved Boston communities. This role is ideal for someone with deep GAAP expertise, multi-entity nonprofit experience, and a passion for using financial leadership to drive community development and economic empowerment. Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting and 7+ years of progressive experience At least 4 years as a Controller or senior finance leader in a nonprofit with $8M+ budget 3+ years of experience managing and developing accounting teams Strong GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and compliance expertise Experience with federal and state contracts, audits, and tax-exempt industry practices Proficiency in Sage Intacct (or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel Excellent communication skills to present financial information to diverse stakeholders High personal accountability, integrity, and sound judgment with collaborative approach Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with competing priorities This is a hybrid role based in Boston reporting to the Director of Finance. Experience with LIHTC accounting, multi-entity structures, and social impact lending preferred.
