Overview Job Title: Telecommunications Engineer

Employment Type: Contract (12 months, with extension potential)

Pay Rate: $42/hr W2 only

Hours: 40 hrs/week, Eastern Time Zone (remote with ET alignment required)

Location: Remote – Eastern-based candidates preferred

Travel: Minimal, as required

We are seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to join the network and telecom services team. This role is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and support of enterprise-wide telecommunications solutions, including contact center applications and unified communications systems. The position involves working with both internal teams and carrier service providers to ensure maximum uptime, scalability, and performance of telecom infrastructure.

This engineer will also participate in on-call rotation, perform system upgrades, and support disaster recovery testing for critical voice systems.

Responsibilities

Configure, maintain, and support enterprise contact center applications (Cisco, Nuance, NICE).

Manage Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM), Cisco Packaged Contact Center Enterprise (PCCE), Cisco Voice Portal (CVP), and related components.

Implement and manage toll-free services, supporting both corporate and customer needs.

Partner with carrier service providers on implementations, terminations, and troubleshooting.

Configure new call center implementations and maintain high service resiliency.

Develop and maintain disaster recovery procedures for telecom infrastructure.

Perform system upgrades, patches, and changes outside of normal business hours.

Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation.

Maintain documentation, reporting, and compliance with IT Change Control standards.

Must-Have Technologies

Cisco PCCE (advanced administration, scripting, IVR configuration, troubleshooting)

Cisco CUCM (advanced administration)

Cisco CVP (VXML applications, troubleshooting)

Cisco Unity voicemail and CER administration

Cisco Expressway Gateways (configuration and troubleshooting)

Other Required Skills

Proficient in:

CUCM, PCCE, ICM scripting, VXML, CVP, VVB, CUIC, CUBE, Unity voicemail, CER, Expressway, Nuance Speech Server.

Strong knowledge of VOIP, SIP, and QoS.

Exceptional customer service mindset.

Minimum 2+ years Networking/Systems experience (WAN, LAN, Firewalls).

Minimum 3+ years experience in enterprise voice technologies.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, enterprise-scale telecom environment.

Preferred Skills

Experience with:

Cisco UC Manager 11.5+, Unity Voicemail, PCCE 11.5+, CVP, CUIC, Expressway, Collaboration video endpoints, Meraki.

Nuance Speech servers (ASR, TTS).

NICE Engage call recording and NICE Workforce Management.

Nationwide toll-free service routing/management.

ServiceNow ITSM/ITIL.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of direct VOIP/telecommunications experience.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
