RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive integrated health system, is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon specializing in Aortic Surgery to lead as Director of the Aortic Center in its Northern Region.

The Aortic Center is supported by robust administrative, marketing, and outreach teams, ensuring visibility and continued growth across the region. Compensation and Benefits
To ensure compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, we are providing the following information:
The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is
$850,000 to $1,100,000 per year .
The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience
Performance-Based Incentives: Eligible for bonus compensation aligned with MGMA benchmark standards, based on productivity, quality, and programmatic leadership. Total compensation may exceed the base range depending on performance.

Position Highlights
Serve as Director of the Aortic Center, leading clinical, strategic, and programmatic development across the Northern Region
Focus on complex aortic pathology, including ascending, arch, and descending thoracic aortic surgery (open and endovascular)
Collaborate with an established team of cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, and specialty-trained nurses
Represent the program through national presentations, outreach initiatives, and academic contributions
Balance of clinical and administrative responsibilities (.7 FTE Clinical / .3 FTE Administrative)
Candidate Requirements
MD or DO with board certification in Thoracic Surgery
5+ years of post-training experience with a specialization in aortic surgery
Demonstrated leadership in program development and multidisciplinary collaboration
Strong academic engagement, with a record of society presentations and/or publications
Eligibility for medical licensure in New Jersey
