The Department of Industrial Relations, Office of the Director - Research Unit, is responsible for determining the prevailing wage in compliance with the California Labor Code and related regulations. The prevailing rate of per diem wages includes employer payments for health and welfare, pension, vacation/holiday, travel time and subsistence, training, and other payments for similar purposes as determined by the Director of Industrial Relations. The prevailing wage is the minimum rate of pay for workers employed on public works projects. Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager, the Staff Services Analyst (SSA), as the first entry level position, performs the less complex analytical tasks with established policies and procedures to support various research programs operations within the Office of the Director – Research Unit (ODR). The SSA will obtain knowledge of the Labor Code, Public Utilities Code, Government Code Sections and the California Code of Regulations as they pertain to public works/ general prevailing wage determinations. The SSA will be in frequent contact with regulated public (i.e. employers, employees, contractors, etc.), other external stakeholders (i.e. unions, awarding bodies, law firms, other State agencies, etc.) and internal stakeholders (i.e. DIR divisions, etc.) by phone and/or written correspondence. The SSA will be responsible for answering calls on the Prevailing Wage Hotline. Supports the administration of the Director's Prevailing Wage Determinations which includes: assisting in the collection of union contracts and data; contacting union officials and employer associations; and maintaining inventory of program and web material. The SSA serves as ODR’s web liaison for the Office of Information Services web team to achieve accurate and timely web postings and ensuring that all ODR information that is posted on the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) website is American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant. Answer Prevailing Wage Hotline calls and assist in the collection of union contracts and data. Contact union officials and employer associations; maintain inventory of program and web material. Serve as ODR’s web liaison to ensure accurate, timely postings and ADA compliance on the DIR website. Interact with regulated public, external stakeholders, and internal DIR divisions by phone and written correspondence. Working Conditions

The position is located in San Francisco, CA. The SSA works in a cubicle environment in an office setting with artificial light and temperature control. Telework may be possible part-time from home using state computers and equipment. Special Requirements
