Assistant Nurse Manager - Labor and Delivery
Position: Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) – Labor and Delivery. The ANM is a professional Registered Nurse reporting to the unit director/manager and uses the nursing process to manage clinical and operational activities within the assigned shift. The ANM supports the director/manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating unit services and provides managerial presence for all shifts. The ANM manages clinical and non-clinical caregivers and provides input to the director/manager for performance evaluation purposes. Duties include ensuring compliance with professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements; implementing and monitoring compliance with policies, processes and clinical priorities; coaching, mentoring, and collaborating to deliver quality health care to patients. Supervise the planning, coordination and delivery of patient care activities of the unit(s) in a team environment. Coordinate daily staffing and utilization of health care providers according to established standards of care and competencies; supervise staff scheduling. Support performance improvement programs and initiatives; actively participate in professional governance. Collaborate with hospital management in problem solving in the absence of the director. Participate in interviewing, selecting, training, developing, coaching, evaluating, appraising and disciplining department staff. In conjunction with the manager, process terminations. Oversee Kronos activities. Follow Compliance Integrity Program, Code of Conduct and other regulatory requirements. Contribute to development and revision of unit policies and procedures. Support patient rights and code of conduct; inspect the unit for compliance and take corrective action as needed. Foster harmonious relationships and open communication among the health care team and with medical staff and other hospital departments. Conduct staff meetings, post agendas and minutes in the department. Assist in resolving patient complaints in a timely manner and refer to management as appropriate. Serve as a role model for positive relationships with patients and visitors; identify learning needs and provide instruction as needed. Contribute ideas for systems and equipment; participate in evaluating new products, supplies, and equipment. Provide direction to nursing staff to ensure timely completion of assignments and appropriate workload. Department Overview
Labor and Delivery: 30 labor beds OB ED: 9 beds total OB ORs: 4 operating rooms Births: Approximately 550-600 per month NICU: Level 4 with 77 beds 24/7 Services: Anesthesia, Laborist, and Neonatology Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). Registered Nurse license in Washington at hire. National Provider BLS – American Heart Association at hire. Preferred Qualifications
