The Director is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations within the TRIO Program for Student Achievement (PSA) serving 100 eligible students with documented disabilities, in close collaboration with the Student Access and Support Services Office. The PSA provides academic and financial aid advising, career and transfer counseling, and individualized tutoring. The Director recruits and supervises staff and eligible students, delivers services to eligible students, oversees direct service activities, and manages the grant budget. The Director is responsible for the development and administration of all grant procedural elements and program policy; and overseeing the development of evaluations, annual performance reports and continuation grants.

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of the PSA, including recruitment of staff and students, direct service activities, and budget administration. Interview, hire and supervise staff to provide services within the PSA. Oversee the development of evaluations and annual performance reports for the program. Develop and maintain procedural elements of the program policy. Coordinate relationships with other programs and divisions of the college. Maintain an accurate, current record-keeping system. Develop, manage, and monitor the PSA budget. Maintain positive relationships with MCC Faculty and staff regarding courses, student progress and status, and Supplemental Instruction and support provided to PSA students. Maintain external relations with the Department of Education and other TRIO programs. Promote and maintain responsive community relations. Provide supplemental instruction and academic and adjustment support to PSA students as needed. Ensure the grant management database is maintained, updated, and edited. Facilitate referrals to appropriate community agencies to assist students in obtaining services necessary for success in postsecondary education. Consult regularly with community agencies and resources to assist with ongoing support of students with psychiatric disabilities. Maintain professional and technical knowledge in applicable areas to include current knowledge of trends and practices in disability support services. Serve as an academic advisor for eligible PSA students, helping identify appropriate courses and using the advising system. Meet with students regularly to ensure needs are met and assist in developing self-advocacy skills. Participate in training on school policies and procedures for providing academic advising to PSA students. Collaborate with staff in TRIO Student Success Program, Student Access and Support Services, and other co-curricular and support services for PSA students. Collaborate and coordinate support services to eligible PSA students, and serve as a student advocate within the academic community. Attend and participate in orientation, opening day, honors, scholarship, leadership awards and commencement programs. Attend and participate in programs in local communities including community advocacy groups. Participate in professional development opportunities and regular staff meetings. Participate in college-wide planning on issues related to student support services and support for special populations. Participate in Faculty Staff Association and ad hoc committees as requested by the Dean of Students and the Assistant Dean of Student Support Services. Perform administrative tasks associated with department activities. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Requirements: Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Special Education, or a closely related field; minimum of three years of extensive experience working directly with individuals with disabilities, particularly recent experience supporting students with psychiatric and emotional disabilities, and working with diverse student populations in an education setting or comparable setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Excellent communication, organization, leadership, and planning skills. Experience with program and budget management, including oversight of federally-funded education programs and grant administration. Familiarity with issues affecting disabled, low-income, and first-generation college students. Experience implementing disability support services programs and providing case management. Demonstrated ability in staff development and supervision of employees. Ability to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and goals. Proven capacity to form strong coalitions with internal and external constituencies. Preferred Qualifications : Bilingual skills a plus Additional Information

This position is supported through federal grant funding.

While the college is fully committed to the success of this program, continued employment in this role is contingent upon ongoing grant funding. Should federal funding change in the future, the position may be impacted. Salary and Benefits

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $84,000; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
