AECOM UXO Safety Officer (UXOSO) – Kuwait City 1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicants AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented UXO Safety Officer (UXOSO) for employment in Kuwait City. Qualified candidates must be available to start onboarding for this assignment on November 3, 2025. Deployment to Kuwait will happen shortly after that. This will require completion of pre-hire support activities (drug screen, background check, etc) by mid-October 2025.

Responsibilities

Meet the criteria for and perform the functions of a UXO-TIII.

Implement explosives and health and safety plans and programs in accordance with applicable DoD, federal, state, and local requirements.

Ensure compliance with a DoD Military Service- and/or DDESB-approved site plans.

Analyze potential risks (operational, explosives safety, general safety) associated with MEC-related activities and develop and implement required mitigating measures.

Verify compliance with site-specific explosives safety requirements, including:

Enforcing personnel limits and explosives safety quantity distance (ESQD) arcs for explosive-related operations.

Conducting, documenting, and reporting daily safety inspections and verifying corrective actions.

Engineering controls if used to reduce the open detonation minimum separation distance.

Overseeing heavy equipment operations in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and making the final safety status determination of discovered MEC with the SUXOS.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma + 4 years of experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Current driver’s license; eligible to operate an AECOM provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle for AECOM business.

Pass pre-employment drug screen.

Valid US Passport through 11/2026.

Participate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty exam in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120; medically qualified to conduct work activities at the jobsite.

40-hour HAZWOPER; 8-hour OSHA Supervisor (initial); 10-hour or 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety; current 8-hour OSHA refresher.

* Due to the nature of this project, US Citizenship is required *

Additional Qualifications

Graduate of a military EOD assistant course, or accredited UXO technician training course, or military EOD school (US, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Australia).

On-the-job training with MEC-related processes, procedures, and equipment (e.g., geophysical).

EOD/UXO experience requirements per training background (varies by graduate type).

OSHA 1910.120(e)(4) 8-hour Management and Supervisor Training Course completion.

Understanding of applicable explosives safety criteria; experience in various phases of MEC/munitions response or range clearance.

10-hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training completion card.

Preferred Qualifications

SSH0 Level 1 per USACE EM 385-1-1 (2024) recommendations.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal certificate.

30-hour OSHA Construction Safety; 40-hour EM 385-1-1 Hazard Recognition Training.

Additional Information

Relocation assistance is not available; travel and per diem provided.

Motor Vehicle Record screening required.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is USD 64 - USD 65 per hour.
